I.Detroit represents a thorough research-driven exploration of 100 individuals who embody the spirit and resilience of Detroit. This three-year initiative began with a six-month nomination phase, wherein a diverse array of Detroit residents nominated individuals from their communities who exemplify outstanding service and contribution, not just to the city, but to the broader region.

The project utilizes photographic portraits, app-based image-activated oral histories, and ancestral DNA to forge a deeper connection with the narratives of these remarkable individuals. By employing these methods, Human Atlas projects strive to reflect societal values, prompting audiences to reflect on their own roles and responsibilities within their communities and cities. The work can be accessed in multiple formats, including a book, a museum exhibition, and digital media.
